When Somebody Dies

This can be a scary time in your life. Sometimes adults don't explain what is happening or is likely to happen but you need to know the truth. Adults often are trying to protect you or are too upset themselves. They may not know what to say but there is help available. Adults may also try to hide their feelings of perhaps sadness, fear, and anger. This may stop you expressing your feelings which if bottled up can make you withdraw from friends, have difficulty concentrating in school, take anger out on others, feel guilty, lonely, depressed, afraid. You may at times just feel numb. Let adults know how you feel and that you want to part of what is going on. Talk to a friend you can trust, a family member, teacher, health professional or someone in your Church.

There is always someone who can help. A list of organisations that are experts in helping people who have lost someone are listed in the links pages.
