and chemotherapy
treatment.

Understanding chemotherapy
Cancerbackup booklet. It explains what chemotherapy is, why it may be given, how treatment is planned, possible side effects, and how the patient may feel.
You can view this booklet online, or contact Cancerbackup for a printed copy (free to patients).

This website has a detailed section on chemotherapy. It explains what chemotherapy is, how it is given, possible side-effects, how you may feel etc. There is also information on the side-effects of individual chemotherapy drugs.

Captain Chemo website
This children's site is part of the website of the Royal Marsden NHS Trust. It has information on childhood cancers as well as adventures, activities and quizzes based on the Captain Chemo cartoon character.
Video: Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
– a video film by patients for patients
This 20-minute video shows patients receiving treatment, and explains what goes on behind the scenes. It describes common side effects and how to cope with them. Your chemotherapy nurse may have this video. It is produced by Health Education Publications Ltd.
