Community Liaison Sister offers advice and support
SAHS provides invaluable support and care to people suffering from cancer
and other terminal illnesses living within the Southern Health Board area.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life of people in our care and to support their families and carers. All our services are provided free of charge and we rely heavily on voluntary donations to continue providing our special care.
Care is provided by a team of highly trained medics and professionals both at the Hospice
and in the community through a wide range of services.
The Hospice Inpatient Unit where patients can stay in the hospice helps establish control of the more troublesome symptoms
of the disease.
The Community Liaison Sister provides effective patient-centred admissions and discharges, providing seamless continuity of care for the patient.
The Day Hospice provides ongoing respite care and activities for patients whose symptoms are controlled but who wish to avail of further medical, nursing and physiotherapy care. Ongoing companionship and diverse therapies enable patients to live life to the full.
Outpatient Clinics operate once a week in South Tyrone and Craigavon Hospitals as well as at the Hospice. Run by the Hospice’s Medical Director and a Hospice Nurse these clinics help local people avail of specialist advice and care closer to home.
Home Care provides medical advice for those patients who wish to be cared for in the comfort of their own home.
The Chaplains’ work reflects sensitivity to multi-faith and multicultural realities, respect for patients’ spiritual and religious preferences and a consciousness of the uniqueness of each individual.
The Social Work Service responds to the psychological, social, emotional and practical needs of patients and their relatives and carers.
The Hospice provides a Bereavement Counselling
Service, to enable families and carers, both adults and children, face the inevitable and help them through the grieving process. Our volunteers play an integral role in the provision of hospice services. A Volunteer Support Service co-ordinates and assists all of our volunteers and an extensive Fundraising Department has the task of funding a large majority of the running costs of the Hospice.
