The Colorectal Nurses at the Ulster Hospital provide support, advice and information for patients with bowel cancer, and patients with other non-cancerous bowel conditions.

The aim of the service is to improve the experience of patients and their families through the provision of information and psychological and emotional support and is available for patients who are currently:

  • Undergoing investigation
  • Requiring surgery
  • Formation of a stoma
  •  Recovering from surgery
  • Attending for follow-up

Mode of Referral : for Service User 

If a patient has a stoma and is new to the service, then they can ask their GP to complete a written referral. If known to the service as a stoma patient then they can ring for an appointment themselves.
