CLIC Sargent UK is working towards a world where all children and young people with cancer
live life to the full. We provide support directly and indirectly to over 6,000 people a year, including children, parents and siblings. CLIC Sargent nurses provide specialist care and support both in hospital, at home and in the community. CLIC Sargent social workers
provide emotional care as well as practical support. CLIC Sargent play specialists help children learn about their illness and treatment and this understanding can take away their fears and concerns.
We offer grants of up to £200 to help lessen the financial burden of caring for a child with cancer. We also provide home from home services, offering families free self-catering accommodation close to paediatric oncology centres across the country and we organise breaks for families either at Malcolm Sargent House in Ayrshire or self-catering caravans in various locations. We also provide support through our specialist Youth and Family Support services, supporting young people and families at home and in hospital. CLIC Sargent also funds research in scientific, clinical, healthcare and psycho-social areas:
In Northern Ireland CLIC Sargent fund 2 social worker posts in the RBHSC and the Belfast City Hospital. We also fund a Community Play Specialist and a Clinical Psychologist. We have a youth service programme and a very active family support service.
