Brain Tumour

Brainwaves NI is a support group for brain tumour patients and their families.  It was founded in 1994 and publishes a newssheet.  Resources include several booklets containing information on brain tumour conditions:

  • Living with a Brain Tumour,
  • Brain Tumour and Epilepsy,
  • Radiotherapy for Brain Tumour,
  • Chemotherapy for Brain Tumour,
  • Pituitary Tumour,
  • Mengioma,
  • High grade Glioma Tumour,
  • Low grade Glioma Tumour.

Meetings are held in the Samuel Irwin Lecture Theatre, Royal Victoria Hospital, Grosvenor Road, Belfast, on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm except during July/August/December

The group also has social outings and workshops on relaxation and stress management techniques.  Financial help and respite breaks are also provided.  All services are carried out by patients and volunteers.  Membership is free.

Who might I need:

Family patients will meet health professionals they have never encountered.  Sometimes they are unable to clearly or logically express or define their needs we aim to help them through the labrinth until the help and support begins.  Also help priortising their needs
