Other services provided: 
Palliative Care for life-limiting non-cancer diseases e.g. End stage Multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntingtons Disease, Heart Failure etc.

This team works together, supporting the core community services, the 24hr team and district nurses who are the patient’s key worker. We provide a high quality, responsive service to patients and families with both cancer and non-cancer conditions.

Our overall aim is to maintain and improve quality of life by:

  • Offering guidance and acting as a resource to statutory, voluntary and charitable organisations involved in service provision.
  • Providing expert clinical practice in accordance with the clinical and social care agenda.
  • Fast tracking equipment and prioritising referrals.
  • Facilitating professional development and providing education to professionals and the public.
  • Being involved in local and regional service improvements through research, audit and evidence based practice.

Mode of Referral : for Service User 

  • Any member of the  public can contact the Oncology and Palliative care team for advice and support.
  • Service users can refer themselves to the Specialist Oncology Nurse,Specialist Palliative Care Nurse, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Specialist Occupational Therapist and the team Social Worker
  • Service users cannot however refer themselves to the Specialist Physiotherapist or Dietitian. A member of their existing healthcare team has to make a referral.

For the Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, the Specialist Occupational Therapist, Specialist Physiotherapist and Specialist Dietitian, professionals can refer by ringing call management on 0845 6066596.
