The Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital provides a comprehensive occupational therapy service for oncology patients.

Occupational therapy focuses on everyday activities and all aspects of daily living. 

Occupational Therapists help you to manage changes in your lifestyle caused by illness or the side-effects of treatment.  Practical help and advice is available on a range of issues including fatigue management and energy conservation. 

We can also give guidance on the range of aids and equipment that are available for toilets, baths, chairs and showers.

Disability Access: 

All areas of the Trust are accessible to wheelchair users and those with disabilities.  Patients who are disabled or have a speech, hearing or visual impairment can contact the Unit before their appointment.

Ethnic Diversity:

Religious and cultural beliefs of any individual will be respected at all times.  Should interpreting services be required for those with limited or no English this can be arranged. 

Opening hours: 

Occupational Therapists work Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.

Should out of hours appointments be required this can be arranged.

General Referal Statement: 

Any referral made to our service will be followed up.

Should those referred to our service not require our direct service, they will be assisted/referred to the appropriate person.

Mode of Referral : for Service User 

Patients or carers may contact the service by telephone, letter, speaking directly with an Occupational Therapist, or by requesting another health professional to make a referral on their behalf.

Mode of Referral : for Healthcare Professional 

Health care professional are requested to make referrals in writing.

Occasions may arise when a verbal referral is required due to urgency - this however must be followed up by a written referral.
