Where can I get more information?
Your own doctors, radiographers and nurses are the only people who can give you information about your radiotherapy
treatment. They will talk with you, answer your questions and, in most cases, give you written information to take away and read at home.
However, if you would like to read some general information now, you may find the following sources of information helpful.
Understanding radiotherapy
Cancerbackup booklet. You can view this online, or contact Cancerbackup for a printed copy (free to patients).
Radiotherapy. Your questions answered
Royal Marsden online booklet.
Radiotherapy
CancerHelp (Cancer
Research UK) website. Detailed information about radiotherapy – what it is, how it is given, possible side-effects, and your feelings.
Cancer Index (guide to internet resources for cancer)
You can use this to find worldwide sites with information on radiotherapy.
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy – a video film by patients for patients. This 20-minute video (produced by Health Education Publications Ltd) shows patients being treated and talking about their experiences. It also describes common side-effects and how to cope. Ask staff in your radiotherapy department if they have a copy.
