This forum was set up as a result of a meeting in September 2007.

Representatives of HSC Trusts and voluntary sector providers of cancer services attended the meeting. They decided that it would be useful for a reference group to be set up to help inform and steer the Northern Ireland Cancer Network's work in Patient Information.

The forum meets regularly. We hope that members from across the region will attend these meetings to provide valuable insight to the issues that affect their patients/clients and their carers. To encourage this, the venue for the meeting will alternate between the Antrim area and the Belfast area.

The forum has already been involved in:

(i) the development of a standard for patient information in the Services Framework for Cancer,

(ii) discussions about a baseline audit of cancer patient information in Northern Ireland,

(iii) informing the development of a cancer patient information strategy for Northern Ireland.
