Timed effective care pathways are central to delivering quality and timely care to patients throughout their cancer journey and to the delivery of an equitable service.  NICaN Regional Tumour Groups have deloped care pathways for each tumour site with reference to available guidance.  These pathways represent an ‘ideal’ pathway that can be adapted for local use.  All the pathways include the principles of the Cancer High Impact Changes across the pathway.  The pathways are intended to be 'live' documents and will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.  Some are currently in use by Trusts to support the proactive management of patients through the pathway.  NICaN Service Improvement Lead is working with the Regional Tumour Groups to further support local implementation of the pathways.

 

Please note, Regional Tumour Groups have not yet been established for all tumour types. The Network hopes to extend its work to the remaining tumour sites over the next year or so.
