Patients who are responsible for their own nursing home charges should check if they are entitled to financial help.

In Northern Ireland, the Health and Social Services are responsible for the cost of care provided by a registered nurse in a nursing home. If you are in a nursing home, or about to go into one, and you will be paying all or part of the fees yourself, you should be assessed by a Health and Personal Social Services (HSS) nurse. If they agree that you need nursing care, the HSS will make a contribution towards you nursing care fees.
