What is prostate cancer?
Prostate cancer
is a disease that starts in the cells
of the prostate gland.
Cancer occurs when normal body cells get out of control, multiply and spread. These cells clump together to form a cancerous or malignant
tumour
which can then grow and damage healthy parts of the body.
Prostate cancer usually grows slowly, especially in older patients. It may be a long time before it leads to troublesome symptoms
or needs treatment. Some men are never aware that they have prostate cancer
