Can the risk of cancer of the larynx be reduced?
The single most important way to cut your risk of getting this cancer
(and most others) is by not smoking.
If you'd like to give up, ask your GP or health centre for advice, or contact the UK charity QUIT.
You can cut your risk further by not drinking heavily, especially spirits.
If you have had cancer of the larynx
, giving up smoking and drinking less will reduce the risk of the cancer coming back. It will also reduce the side-effects of treatment and help healing.
