How long will each session last?

Once you are in the treatment room, the session will probably last between five and 15 minutes.

The machine is switched on for only part of this time. The radiographers spend most of the time helping you to get into the right position, and explaining the procedure.

Your visit to the department will, of course, take longer than this. For example, you will need to sit in the waiting area for a while beforehand.

Sometimes there are delays that the staff just can't avoid, and this may mean your visit takes a little longer than expected. Please ask if you are concerned about delays.

If you are having daily appointments, it may be possible to arrange them at a convenient time for you, so that you can carry on with your normal routine away from the hospital.
