Pharmacist
Pharmacists are experts in medicines and their use. They work to ensure that patients get the maximum benefit from their medicines. They dispense prescriptions; advise on how best to manage medicines as well as any possible side effects and how medicines interact with each other.
Pharmacists may work in a number of different settings.
Hospital based pharmacists work closely with medical and nursing staff to ensure patients receive the most appropriate treatment during their stay and provide help and advice to patients on all aspects of their medicines.
Most people will be familiar with community pharmacists based in the local chemist. They can advise on the most effective treatments for minor ailments. If you have any unwanted or discontinued medicines at home, your community pharmacists can safely dispose of these. You do not need to make an appointment to see your community pharmacists.
