Nurse Director: Ms Liz Henderson     
 
 As Network Nurse Director, Liz contributes to the strategic development of cancer services across Northern Ireland. Her specific responsibility is around improving the ‘patient experience’ which involves supporting the integration of the following work programmes: Cancer Nursing, Allied Health Professionals, Supportive and Palliative Care, Patient and Public Involvement, Patient Information and Chemotherapy Service Development. She enjoys working with others to enable them to achieve increased effectiveness in the delivery of a person centred service.

Senior Manger:  Ms Lisa McWilliams   
 
Lisa McWilliams is the Senior Manager for the Network - with a focus on operational managment and co-ordination of clincial network activity.  Lisa is a member of the HSCB/PHA Cancer Commissioning Team.
 
In her  operational role she has responsibility for logistics, communications (including the website), day-day financial monitoring and the administrative staff and processes of the Network. Lisa also acts as secretariat to the Network Board and the Local Lead Cancer Teams Forum. 
 
In addition Lisa manages the  tumours networks: breast, gynae, colorectal, lung,; melanoma/complex skin, children and young peoples, urology, upper GI and haematology as well as Systemic Anti Cancer Therapies,  and the MDT Support Personnal Forum.
 
Lisa is also the organisational contact for Patient and Public Involment and Patient Information. 
 

Macmillan Cancer Survivorship Programme Manager: Ms Mary Jo Thompson

Mary Jo Thompson is the Macmillan Regional Programme Manager for the Transforming Cancer Follow-up Programme.  This programme aims to transform cancer follow-up for patients by providing a more individualised approach whilst providing more effectiveness and efficiency due to the changing landscape of cancer care.  Her specific role is to regionally co-ordinate and support key stakeholders with the introduction and testing of this new model.  The project team also consists of Liz Henderson (Programme Lead - 0.4WTE), and a local project manager in each of the five Trusts in Northern Ireland.  Mary Jo has a strong clinical background having worked as Colorectal/Stoma CNS for many years in Southern Trust.  She has published widely within this field of expertise and enjoys working with others.

Macmillan Cancer Rehabilitation Lead:  Mr Shane Breen
 
Shane Breen is the Macmillan Cancer Rehabilitation Lead for the Network. 
In his role he will act as the strategic link for cancer rehabilitation and Cancer Care Allied Health Professionals (AHP) regionally.
 
Shane is a strong advocate for the role that Allied Health Professionals (AHP) have in cancer rehabilitation. Having previously completed the NI AHP Leadership programme, he is currently undertaking an MSc in Interprofessional Health and Social Care Management through Queens University at Belfast and the Beeches Management Centre.
His research will be on Allied Health Professionals and cancer rehabilitation.
 
Shane will also chair the NICaN AHP / Network Rehabilitation Forum.

RISOH Project Manager: Ms Joy Beaumont

Joy Beaumont is the project manager of the Regional Information System for Oncology and Haematology.  This project aim is to identify and implement a regionally effective clinical information system that will among other things facilitate electronic prescribing and allow standardisation of treatment regimens.  Her specific role is to lead the development and implementation of the system throughout the region within the agreed parameters using Prince2 methodology.  Joy has an ICT background having worked for South Eastern Trust for many years.

Macmillan MSCC Project Manager: Ms Clodagh O'Brien

Clodagh O'Brien in the Macmillan Regional Project Manager for the implementation of the NICE guidance on Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC).  This programme aims to:

  • promote best practice
  • ensure timely access to referral, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of people with MSCC
  • prevent paralysis whenever possible from adversely affecting the quality of life of people with MSCC

Clodagh's background is as a clinical specialist physiotherapist and she completed the NI AHP Leadership programme in 2009.
